God want us to reign in life. When God created Adam & Eve in the Garden of Eden, He did not intend for man to grow old, be sick, and die. He did not intend for death to reign in man’s life. That is why Jesus came as the second Adam, to reverse what the first Adam did, and is for man to reign in life, reign in their marriage, in their job, in their business, in the school, and at home. To reign is to rule over something, just like a King ruling over his domain, and everything is subject to the King’s word. A house-maker can also reign in life, by raising children of God, who’d love God for the next Godly generation. When we reign in life, diseases don’t reign, stress doesn’t reign, poverty doesn’t reign, and certainly the devils don’t reign.
The power to reign does not depend on your family background, nor your educational qualification, nor your look, nor how much money savings you have in your bank; but entirely depending on God’s promises in the Bible alone, Not through our own power but through the power of the One, Christ Jesus.
The bible is a manual book of successes for man, written by God for us to read and succeed in life. Believe me, God is already super successful, and He does not need to be more successful anymore. If we just follow the manual book, and believe, then the promises are ours to claim. Bible is also valid and applicable to all generations, past, present, and future, until the end of time. Mark 13:31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
Rom 5:17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
By the one man’s offense death reigned: who is the one man’s offense ? it is Adam’s offense. Because of Adam’s fall, the world is a fallen world, and thus death reigned. Death here is a noun, which you can replace with any ‘life-sufferings’, like: poverty, diseases, sins. It could be death in your business, in your job, in your marriage, in your family, at home or at school.
A person can work hard, be diligent, and use his own strength to succeed in life. But, the success may be in one area only, while failures in other areas of life. He could accumulate a lot of money working for 30 years, but for the next 30 years, he may have to spend all that money he had accumulated before, just to maintain his health, paying off for his medical bills and hospital bills, just to prolong / sustain his life. This is certainly not a success, this is “death reigned”.
A person may have a big mansion with 20 large bedrooms, with Olympic size Swimming pool. But, the wife is seldom home, always with friends, gambling “mah-jong”, and the children likewise are rarely home always out there with friends, taking drugs, and drunkards. And he is always busy seeking money, on business trips, playing golf, and having affair with his secretary. The big house ends up empty most of the time, and the ones enjoying the facilities are their maids and pets, dogs. This is also not a success, but “death reigned”.
Christians, who were born again “new creation”, do not belong to this category; we belong to the next promise in Rom 5:17 ….much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.
We belong to the “much more”, of what the second Adam, Jesus Christ, did is much more and far greater than what the first Adam did. We can reign in life through Jesus Christ. The more we believe in His Grace or unmerited favor, and the more we know that we have been made righteous by His blood and not by our good behavior, the more we will reign over all forms of death in the world.
Rom 5:17 says: we need abundant Grace, which means a lot more Grace; and the Gift of righteousness which is a gift and not a reward. Grace can be explained as “God will do what man cannot do for themselves”. Righteousness is a gift, not our own righteousness, but Jesus’ righteousness, given to us as a gift irregardless of our past, present and future performance. And, by knowing & believing this truth, will not only set you free, but will also make you Reign in life.
Question: why aren’t many Christians reigning in life ?
The words “Receive” in Rom 5:17 in the original Greek New Testament Bible is in the “Present Active Participle” tense which means continuously receiving and receiving and receiving, it could be weekly, or daily, or even more frequent. How?
Come to church weekly to hear more Good News of Grace, the Gospel of Grace being preached. Fill your mind and heart with the goodness of God when the Grace messages being preached, because you need abundant of Grace, and not just a one time or once a while, but frequent. And, avoid messages that bring back the Law, which is self-centered messages, putting back the responsibility and burden to perform onto man, instead of Jesus-centered. The Law makes you look at yourself, the Law demand your to obey and perform to please God, while Grace makes you look at Jesus, Grace makes you receive His Love and goodness of God. And by receiving, effortlessly you are being filled with Love and the goodness of God. That love will make you love your family and neighbors; and the goodness of God will lead you to repentance. Rom 2:4 …., not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance.
We should always ask ourselves, that: “Is Jesus Good ?” ; “is Jesus accepted by the right hand side of the Father in heaven?” ; if the answer is “yes” ; then, so are you in this world (1John 4:17 …; because as Jesus is, so are we in this world).
You can also daily fill your heart with the abundant of Grace by listening to Gospel songs with Grace Lyrics which is all about Jesus, all about the Goodness and Mercy of God, and all about His love for us, and not our love for Him. And, keep proclaiming that “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus”, especially when you fail, or fall into sin/s. As this is the time you need most that Holy Spirit convicts you of righteousness, that you are still righteous, because righteousness is a gift and not based on your performance in the first place.
Also, Keep proclaiming the many bible promises you can find, for example:
“I am already forgiven” ; “Jesus’ blood has cleansed me once and for all” ; “by His stripe, I am healed” ; when you’re weary or worried: “the Lord is my refuge and my fortress, in whom I will trust” ; “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, my deliverer”….
And now you’re on your way to Recovery and total wholeness…..Amen.
