Jesus is fun, and little children know this truth. You may know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, but do you know that Jesus is also fun to be with? In His presence is fullness of Joy, and pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore ). Joy and pleasures sound fun, don’t they? Jesus said: “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” “Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the Kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” (Mat 19:14 and Mark 10:15). If we want to know why Jesus said so, we need to observe our little children, don’t we? Some qualities that little children possess, the adults are oblivious.
“Little children run to Jesus, Jesus loves little children”, my little daughter, Pearl, 7 years old, commented one afternoon after her Sunday school. Curiously, I asked her why the little children would come to Jesus?, she replied: “because Jesus is fun”. This answer intrigues me, because I had never heard anybody says “Jesus is fun”. Indeed, children every where are the same; they are straight in their heart without “adult filtering”. A few days ago, a friend came to my house and my little Pearl said to him: “you are fat”. Feeling embarrassed, I told her not to call him fat, but prosperous. “What is prosperous daddy?” she asked. To make it simple, I told her prosperous is happy, and that is why he is eating a lot. However, she innocently replied: “but daddy, he is not happy, and he is fat”.
A little child cannot lie, when she saw the ice cream man, she would run to the ice cream because ice cream is fun. When she sees toy-shop, she will run to the toy-shop without further thinking, because those things are fun, and little children love fun. I observed Pearl wherever I brought her anywhere, the first thing she would find is anything, to play with. Even a tree-leaf on the ground, she would take it and played with the leaf, flew or blew the leaf. A piece of junk could turn into a fun-toy for her. Amazing little children!, they have no worry but to have fun, enjoying the joyful heart.
Jesus in the Bible must truly be fun that little children would run to Jesus. We adult don’t understand this, but little children do, otherwise, they would never run to Jesus. Imagine if Jesus were having “holier than thou” face. Do you think little children will come to Him? No way, Hose! Jesus must have been so fun, hugging, cuddling, tickling, and joking that made little children come to Him. The “religious freaks” will never agree with this picture, will they? But who cares what they think? Jesus cares for His little children.
Apostle Paul said in Rom 1:11 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ (= Grace), for it is the power of God to salvation (= total wholeness) for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Gentile.
Why do you think Paul said “I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ”? Because the Gospel sounds foolish or childish to the world, because they think they are too smart, they need proof and logical explanation to everything, they depended upon themselves. You can’t blame them because we were taught since very young, at school and then continued at work place to “do, do and do, to get things done”, and that the Gospel is only a story for little children. While the Gospel is the good news of Grace from Heaven, the way of Heaven is not human way, Isa 55:9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.
Grace is proclaiming our righteousness as a gift not a reward. Man has no part in salvation, everything is of Christ and none of man. Eph 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Religious folks like to boast of their good work for God. Indeed, because they labor themselves to please God. And now hearing that their labor is in vain, as Righteousness is given freely to all who believe; what do you think is their first reaction towards the good news? Angry? Yes, they will be hard towards the Gospel of Grace, because they now cannot boast of their work.
We are righteous by the blood of Jesus, even though our walk on earth may not be perfect. We are righteous not by our performance, we’re righteous because of what Jesus has done. It is a gift to begin with, and not a reward. Rom 5:17 For if by the one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life through the One, Jesus Christ.

Too good to be true? Well, but it is true! God promised total wholeness, which means prosper in all areas of your life that produces peace, joy, and love in your life. You lack nothing in life, abundant life, and what you need to do is only believe; what a deal! That only little children would want to believe, right?
Recently, I counseled one of my church members, a Korean professional footballer, who was cheated by his agent on his contract-fee, his visa had not been processed over 4 months over-stay, and his passport was withheld. I told him: “don’t worry, nothing by any means will harm you, for you are a little child of God”. Then, he responded: “yes Pastor I believe this”. Later the night in my study room, the Lord showed me this verse:
Luk 10:21 At that time Jesus was full of joy through the Holy Spirit. He said, “I praise you, Father. You are Lord of heaven and earth. You have hidden these things from the wise and educated. But you have shown them to little children. Yes, Father. This is what you wanted (=your Gracious Will). (NIrV)
The word “these things” intrigues me. To know what are these things, we need to read the preceding verses:
Luk 10:17 Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”
Luk 10:18 And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
Luk 10:19 Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
Luk 10:20 Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”
I was jumping in joy as here I found the word “nothing by any means hurt you” is one of “these things” that Jesus mentioned and in the context of giving them only to “little children”, they are:
1) The Authority to trample on serpents and scorpions ( = trample on Devils)
2) The Authority over ALL the power of the enemy (= over Death reign)
3) Nothing shall by any means hurt you (= Reign in life)
By the way, that Korean footballer was later delivered from all his plights.
Yes, only little children have “these things” as promised by the Lord. Many things I may not know, but I just need to know one thing: “Jesus loves me this I know, as the bible tells me so” and that is the way to enter the powerful realm of Authority over Devils, and Authority against Death reigning, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Hallelujah!
We rarely see Jesus put any threat but one in this verse: Mat 18:6 “Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to stumble, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” And this verse is also in the context of protecting His little children (here little ones = a little child (“paidion”)), from any beings who cause His little children to stumble, Jesus promised to remove the stumbling blocks, with a very “serious” threat, drowning was a terrifying death experience both for the person being executed and for his friends as they watched him fight the water struggling in vain to come up for air. In addition to this, his body was pulled to the bottom of the sea probably never to be seen again. This added to the intensity of the punishment since the family could not give the executed man a proper burial. This was the form of capital punishment that was practiced, according to Barnes’ commentary, by the Greeks, Syrians, and Romans, during the time.
Mar 9:36 Then He took a little child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him in His arms, He said to them,
Mar 9:37 “Whoever receives one of these little children in My name receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not Me but Him who sent Me.”
My friends, being a born again Christian, you may be little in the world’s eyes, or even in your own eyes, or you may have little knowledge about many things; it does not matter to God of how little you are or what you possess, but your little children’s heart matters to God, clinging to the Lord, like a little child who depends thoroughly on the parents for all things, and the parents are obliged to provide & protect. And, if anyone welcomes or shows kindness to you, is equivalent to welcoming Jesus Christ and God the Father Himself. And vice versa, if anyone tries to harm you, it is better for the person to die a painful & vanishing death drowned in the depth of the sea. Today, start to take your position as little children, and be greatly blessed, highly favored and deeply loved. Hallelujah!
