What the bible said about HOW LONG you will LIVE?

Is it like “Que Sera, Sera (Whatever Will Be, Will Be)? If it is my time to go, then I go?”  But, wait a minute, what if you’re sitting in the high flying Airplane and it is the Pilot’s time to go? Will Everybody die to follow the Pilot’s time?

or, Do you unconsciously expect the “normal” reported age by the Statistic of 70 or 80 years old? Do you know that 70 or 80 years old is not for you as the Grace-believers, it is for the people of the world who are under God’s wrath.

Psalm 90:10  The days of our lives are 70 years; And if by reason of strength they are 80 years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away.

Look at the verse BEFORE: (verse 9) and AFTER: (verse 11), This verse 10 is being sandwiched between both wrath & anger of God.

Psa 90:9  For all our days have passed away in Your WRATH; We finish our years like a sigh.

Psa 90:11  Who knows the power of Your ANGER? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.

We are living under Grace, we are not the people of the world who are under wrath & anger of God, so why do you want to set your age standard to the world or according to the people under God’s wrath (Psalm 90)?

We belong to the next Psalm 91 of the last verse stated :
“Psa 91:16  With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”

We are the Grace generation who walks in the love of God and boldly receive His provisions: (look at the preceding verses):
Psa 91:14  “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
Psa 91:15  He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

Notice the CRITERIA of a long life in this Psalm 91 are for the Happy, Joyful & Peaceful people who boldly can snuggle in the arm of our Loving God, and the criteria did not state how many years, but simply to our satisfaction and God will honor us with this.  Do you want to live 100 years? Or 120 years? Have you ever spoken to God about your desire to live that long? Do not settle for less when God is willing to give more.

This is against the traditional teaching of Christianity about the Sovereignty of God. I do not discount the wonderful teaching of God’s Sovereignty;  God is indeed sovereign and all powerful, God can take/end any man’s life as He wishes.  But we must always go back to the word of God as the Bible is the authority.  The contrast difference of both Psalm 90 & 91 in its context has shown that one is under God’s wrath and one is under God’s love & grace.  Beloved, you are under Psalm 91!

Some question was asked, how about the greatest Grace apostle, Paul? He died young! ; my friend you are right, not just Paul, but also apostle Peter and the rest of disciples (except for John), they died young as martyrdom to defend their faith. But, I submit to you that they knew and desired to leave this earth to be re-joined with Christ Jesus. At least, Peter and Paul did show so in the Bible.

Let’s look at the Bible, Paul in his early ministry in the book of Act 14, was stoned to death at Lystra, but he walked up back and preached the Gospel again.  Why? He did not want to die yet!  He has not yet decided his time to go to heaven, he still wanted to preach the Gospel.

Act 14:19  Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead.
Act 14:20  However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe.
Act 14:21  And when they had preached the gospel to that city and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch,

In fact, it was not the only occasion, Paul also mentioned in the book of 2 Corinthians: he was Stripes wounded like Jesus, he was Beaten with rods, he was Stoned, Shipwrecked, and Perils of robbers; yet he did not die.

2Co 11:24  From the Jews five times I received forty stripes minus one.
2Co 11:25  Three times I was beaten with rods; once I was stoned; three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I have been in the deep;
2Co 11:26  in journeys often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils of my own countrymen, in perils of the Gentiles, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
2Co 11:27  in weariness and toil, in sleeplessness often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness—

Why he did not die? Again, he desired not to leave the earth yet, because of his deep concern for the churches. (see next verse)
2Co 11:28  besides the other things, what comes upon me daily: my deep concern for all the churches.

In fact, Paul openly said in Philippians 1, such that as if, he has the power over death / to decide over how long he would live his life, whether to live or to die. He was faced with a dilemma, because for Paul to die is a Gain! a much better option than to live.  And, because he felt he is needed by the church, again he said he would remain to live on earth for the benefit of the church.

Php 1:21  For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Php 1:22  But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell.
Php 1:23  For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
Php 1:24  Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.
Php 1:25  And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith,

However, at the end of his ministry on earth, Paul wrote in his Last book /Last letter, which is 2 Timothy, in the Last chapter of the book; he has clearly shown his desire to leave the earth and to meet Lord Jesus.
2Ti 4:6  For I am already being poured out as a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.
2Ti 4:7  I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
2Ti 4:8  Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.

Paul has completed his purpose on earth, as he has fought the good fight, he has finished the race, and he has kept the faith; it is time now for his departure.  Imagined the Roman soldier who was about to decapitated him, looking at his eyes, Paul might have said “don’t worry don’t feel guilty, it is not your decision, it is not Nero’s decision, but it is my TIME to go”.

Beloved, God is sovereign and all powerful, and yet God still honors your satisfaction to live long. Today, let God know how long you want to live your life? 120 years? But remember, you will be given a long life, so that you can glorify and KNOW MORE OF CHRIST JESUS, because the last verse of Psalm 91 stated:
Psa 91:16  With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.

The Hebrew word for My Salvation is literally “Yeshua ( יֵשׁוּעַ – yēšūă‘ in Hebrew)” , which means: My JESUS.  God the Father, will give you a long life to satisfy how long you want to live, AND He will show you more of His JESUS.  Do you want to receive this? Hallelujah.

at 80 years still looking strong and healthy
