Earth was never given to Satan, there was nothing in Bible that stipulates this, we only assume this way based on the consequences after the fall of Adam. Adam did not sell it to Satan. Adam’s fall was merely partaking from the forbidden tree of knowledge of good and evil, and the consequence was death.
Gen 2:17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”
Adam’s fall had caused this fallen world and everything on it degenerated. In essence partaking from the tree means Adam chose to rely on himself rather than from the goodness of God. Everything was good and free in the beginning, but Adam chose wanting to earn it by his own merit and sweat it out. This death also brought forth disconnection from God and mankind had ever since been always deceived by the god of the world, Satan.
In 2 Cor 4:4, The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
The phrase “god of this world” indicates that Satan is a major influence on earth. In John 12:31, the time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out. “The ruler of this world” tells that men had been subject to the ways of Satan which is part of the result of Adam’s fall.
In Ephesians 2:2, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. The “prince of the air” indicates that Satan has no form (hence often possesses “sons of disobedience” or those who refuse to believe God, to walk the earth)
“Hypothetically speaking, After the fall, Could Adam still exercise his dominion n authority over the earth ?” Yes if he still believed it is still in him! God did not take this away from Adam, what God gave, God never take back and nobody can take either but God himself.
Rom 11:29 For God’s gifts and His call are irrevocable. [He never withdraws them when once they are given, and He does not change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call.]
It was Adam’s silence constitute defeat.
Satan is unauthorized to operate on earth and in man. Earth is always God’s and in Genesis 1:26, He made man to have dominion over it because man is made in God’s image. It is like we will only give inheritance to our children who are made in our image. What God has said, no one can change. What God has given, no one can take back.
Adam’s fall into original sin did not amount into giving up the dominion over Earth, nor giving up the authority over to Satan. It was Adam’s absenteeism in Leadership that gave Satan opportunity to seize and enforce abdication.
When Satan tempted Jesus in the wilderness, Satan lied that he could give world kingdom to Jesus if He submitted, but it was never Satan’s to give it anyway in the 1st place.
Man’s fell by original sin and man had been made so blinded not recognizing their power of dominion over the earth and their authority over Satan anymore. Man had been made so fearful that they had been speaking words of fear and unbelief, instead of edifying words. This is the reason, Jesus had to come to earth as the Son of Man (who has authority on earth) not Son of God (who has authority in Heaven). Satan knew Jesus was here to regain the dominion and authority for man as the Son of Man (But Satan did not know How Jesus would accomplice it? and it took Satan by surprise that the cross was the solution); hence, in Mat 4:1-4, in the wilderness, Satan kept repeating: If you are the Son of God…..
When Jesus told Peter that the Son of Man must suffer many terrible things, be rejected and killed but rise again. Peter tried to talk Jesus out of it but was rebuked by Jesus who attributed the audacity to Satan trying to stop the redemption of man. The redemption of man would restore this initial relationship that God first instilled in the garden of Eden, and restore direct communication between God and Man through Holy Spirit. Mat 27:51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom… Man has been reconciled back to God the Father.
The demons knew Jesus was Son of God, and initiated to approach Jesus despite “in fear & trembling”. However, Jesus always told the demons to shut up:
While still teaching … in Mark 1: 23-26, Suddenly, a man in the synagogue who was possessed by an evil spirit began shouting, “Why are you interfering with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!” Jesus cut him short. “Be quiet! Come out of the man,” he ordered. In Mark 1:34, So Jesus healed many people who were sick with various diseases, and he cast out many demons. But because the demons knew who He was, He did not allow them to speak.
Jesus intended to keep His identity as Son of Man and told those who received healing not to tell anyone:
In Mark 1:40-44, Jesus healed a man with leprosy and told him not to tell. In Mark 7, after opening the ear and the tongue of the man, Jesus told him not to tell. Mark 8 He healed the blind man and told him to avoid the village where the people waited for the blind man. Later Jesus asked Peter who did he thought Jesus was. And Peter said that He was the Messiah (Christ, the anointed King). Jesus told Peter not to tell anyone.
Jesus came to earth as Son of Man, and He was adamant to proof that Son of Man has authority (He has brought the Heaven to earth for man):
In Mark 2 Jesus healed a paralyzed man who was lowered from the roof by saying that his sins were forgiven. While people were whispering that only God can forgive sins, Jesus corrected them saying in Mark 2:10 “So I will prove to you that the Son of Man has the authority on earth to forgive sins.” In Mark 2:28, so the Son of Man is Lord, even over the Sabbath. Later Jesus chooses 12 apostles and gave them authority (acting as the Son of Man) to cast demons and giving them permission to understand the secret of the Kingdom of God (acting as Son of God).
Jesus is born the descendent after Abraham of whom God made a blood covenant with. Abraham’s decedents were made Kings, the first being King David, and Jesus is the King of kings. Jesus’ mission is to be born as a man’s King, with the vested authority of a man and having the divine understanding (for He taught with great authority, and cannot be tempted). He has come to pay for the sins of man by his innocence blood, (Hebrews 2:14 that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil) – so that weakened man is not cut off but have a divine channel (the vine, the Holy Spirit) providing powerful back up for man to regain their belief to have dominion on earth and authority over Satan again!
After resurrected, Jesus told his disciples, (Matthew 28:18) “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” Hail the King of man who is our divine connection to Heaven.
